Preparing fungi after they have been dried

Simply take the air-dried specimens off the drier and after allowing a few minutes for them to cool to room temperature place them in the zip lock bags or envelopes. Do not press the fungal specimens as is done with plants! Enclose a tag that has the code number of the specimen, and any successful spore prints (dried). Seal the bag/envelope. Write any details wanted on the outside or simply rely on the code number to refer to information kept in a book or computer database. A herbarium collection may consist of a single fruit body, but preferably at least several fruit bodies. For extra large collections, use boxes but also keep a sample in the normal packet with a note reading 'more specimens in box'.
