We wish to acknowledge the people who helped
make possible the work underlying development of this initial
phase of FungiBank.
Dr Inez Tommerup and Sue Abou Arra
contributed some key scientific and technical inputs, and
contributed to the numerous workshops we have presented to
Australian farming and landcare communities.
Many landholders and farmers of the Upper
Kunjin, Wallitin, and the wider Swan-Avon
Catchments in Western Australia and of the Lachlan Catchment
in New South Wales have contributed to our activities with
native fungi in remnant woodlands and using them in
revegetation. Lawry and Jenny Pitman of Valema Farms near
Corrigin, Western Australia hosted the first in-ground trials in
Australia restoring native fungi back into revegetation as part
of their extensive revegetation efforts. See http://www.grdc.com.au/growers/gc/gc26/west1.html
and http://www.wrc.wa.gov.au/ribbons/avon_region.html
for further details of the Pitmans’ project “Putting
Sustainability to the Test”.Robin Campbell, Community Landcare
Coordinator, Corrigin, shared with us her extensive knowledge of
local vegetation communities in the Western Australian
wheatbelt. In New South Wales, Mike Sutherland of Genaren Farm,
Greening NSW Molong, Greening NSW Forbes, Alan & Monica
McDonald of McDonalds Farmtrees, staff at Forbes State Forests
NSW, and many farmers of the Lachlan catchment assisted in
various ways.
